Mike, Graham and I took the train to the city to meet up with Austen.
We were originally intending on going to Coney Island, but after a little debating we ended up just staying in NYC.
Our plans were to walk to St. Marks and check out the street shops and then meet up with a friend of Austen's who has an apartment in Manhattan.
Well, on the way to St. Mark's we went into a few stores, including my absolute weakspot: URBAN OUTFITTERS.
I have been on a mission to get a Holga camera. The really cool thing about Holgas is that they are made of plastic and allow a lot of light to bleed into the image. Leaving the photo with a very vintage, sun-dye vibe to them. This kind of photography has always caught my eye, so I wanted to give it a shot!
After spending some money on that, we decided it was time to head to this small restaurant owned by Romanians. Mike, Graham and Austen chipped in an got a hookah to smoke at the place. Being a foreign-run place, they didn't ID us so we all got a few drinks and relaxed for a bit.
By this time we were ready to head over to Milk's place.(Austen's friend whos real name is Adrienne...maybe) It was a tiny apartment in Manhattan that was actually pretty cool. I just honestly dont know if I could ever live in such a confined space.
As much as I love the city, I really dont think I could live there.
Its too loud and congested and distracting for me.
I would probably get stressed out beyond belief.
Eventually we made it back to our train and came home.
I'd have to agree with the non-interest to live in the city.
ReplyDeleteBut I'd love just to be able to visit it. I'm gonna have to make a road trip one day when I'm up visiting family in Hawthorne.
Maybe a new year's eve one day.....
